Professional background

Luke began his career in 2015 at Langhorne Irwin Wharram-Spry, a long-established public practice in Cobourg, working on compilation engagements, bookkeeping, payroll and personal and corporate tax for small businesses and individuals. He completed his CPA designation requirements during this period.

He joined Baker Tilly KDN LLP in Cobourg in 2019 as a staff accountant, advancing to senior accountant and then to manager in audit and assurance. Over six years he led the planning, fieldwork and completion of audit, review and compilation engagements for a portfolio of not-for-profit organizations, charities and owner-managed enterprises across Northumberland, Durham and the Kawarthas, and prepared financial statements and note disclosures under ASNPO and ASPE. He acted as the primary client contact, presenting findings to boards, treasurers, finance committees and executive directors, and was responsible for training and reviewing the work of staff and senior accountants.

Areas of practice

Luke established Haukioja Professional Corporation in September 2025. The firm is small by design, and each client works directly with him.

The practice serves owner-managed businesses, farms, incorporated professionals, trades and contractors, and rental property owners, covering corporate and personal tax, financial statements, bookkeeping and payroll.

Alongside this, assurance work for not-for-profit organizations and charities accounts for a substantial part of his eleven years in practice. This includes audits and review engagements, the T3010, and the fund accounting and restricted contribution questions common to grant funded organizations.

Approach. Several pages on this site set out where a service is not required: a payroll platform for an owner-only payroll, incorporation for a business drawing out all of its profit, an audit where a review or less will satisfy the reader. That reflects how the practice is run. Initial conversations carry no charge.

Have a conversation before you commit to anything.

Twenty minutes, no charge, and no obligation either way.
